The MFYP Council has always felt that acknowledging the accomplishments of our peers is vital to personal and professional growth in the community. So, in the spirit of our mission of Civic Involvement, we created the 5 Under 40 Award. This award embodies our goals as a group towards growth. Even though we may be out of school and on our own, we need the recognition that we are doing a good job and that someone is noticing.
This award looks at professional accomplishments, civic involvement, and peer approval in the form of networking. A candidate is nominated by a friend, family, or college and the MFYP Council deliberates on how well they fill the categories mentioned. Following the announcements to the recipients, we honor them at the annual EDP’s (Economic Development Partnership) members meeting. The EDP speaks to the board and the general public about that years information and the Madison YP’s present our award at the end of the meeting. Immediately following, we treat our recipients and a guest to a lovely dinner at the Broadway Tavern & Hotel.
