April 29, 2010 Membership Meeting Notes

January 3, 2012 By Jake Leave a Comment

Madison Future: Young Professionals Network

Followed by “Thirsty Thursday” Networking Event, Boneyard Grill

Attendance: See sign in sheet

Co-Chair Eggenspiller welcomed and thanked the members and guests for attending.

General

Steve Rizzo provided an overview of the 2010 Spring Bridal Show. Approximately 30 brides and 10 guests attended the event. Organizers and vendors felt it was a good turnout but would have liked more attendees. A suggestion was made to have the event in February or March next year. Further discussion will be held at a later date to determine the participation of MFYP in the Fall Bridal Show.

Jake Stuart displayed the website for the members as well as the Facebook page. Members are encouraged to visit the site often. Co-Chair Eggenspiller thanked Jake for his hard work. A contact us section will be added to the site.

Nick Ellis asked for volunteers to assist with the upcoming Folk Festival. Volunteers are being sought for Sunday, May 23, 2010. If anyone is interested in volunteering they should contact Heather Cooper at hcooper@swjcs.k12.in.us. Volunteer slots are for 3 hours and the volunteer will receive a wrist band for entry to the festival. Organizers are also planning to have t-shirts made for the event so please respond as soon as possible.

MFYP will soon have a person designated to submit press releases on our behalf.

Other

Steve Dattilo presented the members with ideas of volunteering during the Madison Fest, June 11th – 15th. MFYP could assist with the community picnic on Sunday by either providing and/or preparing food, assisting with games and other activities. After a discussion of the membership it was decided to explore the possibility of promoting this as a family event. Co-Chair Eggenspiller will check into having a sponsor for MFYP hosting the food. A discussion was also held stating many MFYP members would need to volunteer as this will be our biggest event yet.

National Trail Day is June 5, 2010. A suggestion was made to pick a day and meet for a walk on the Heritage Trail. Additional discussion will follow.

Trevor Crafton, Vice-Chairman has been appointed to the Chamber of Commerce board and will serve as the liaison between the chamber board and MFYP. He will request the chamber by-laws be amended to include MFYP.

A discussion was held to see if there was any interest for MFYP organizing a silent auction and the process that accompanies it, during a community car show. The proceeds would benefit the Madison Beautification Program. It was the consensus of the group that at this time MFYP would not be able to dedicate adequate time to this event but would reconsider it next year.

Jake Stuart has been contacted by Joey G’s inviting us to have our meeting there in May. After a discussion, the membership accepted the invitation and asked Jake to confirm.
