General
Co-Chair Eggenspiller announced the Madison Future website is up and running. A big thank you goes out to Jake Stuart. Without Jake the website would still be a work in progress. Everyone is encouraged to visit www.madisonfuture.com and make suggestions.
Madison Future YP is co-hosting the 2010 Spring Bridal Show. It is scheduled for Sunday, April 18, 2010 at the Livery Stable from 1-5pm. Approximately 23 vendors are confirmed. Volunteers will be needed for this event to help with the set up, registration table, tear down and clean up. An email will be sent out to the members asking for volunteers. Currently no florists will be represented at the event. Vendor space is still available and anyone interested should contact Whitney Settles, Details Event Planning. She can be contacted at 812-290-7068 or whitney@detailseventplanning.net. Advertising materials will be going to print soon. Information will also be going out to recruit brides to attend the event. A fashion show during the event is planned. A one year anniversary package has been donated by Belterra that includes an overnight stay, dinner at Jeff Ruby’s, a gift certificate for one person for one round of golf and one massage.
A discussion was held regarding hosting a co-sponsored event with the Cities movie night in September. With the City hosting the movie, YP could host the cookout. Trevor Crafton also offered free mini-golf on the day of this event to YP members and their immediate family. Other possibilities for YP to have at this event include: corn hole games, frisbees, kites and/or inflatable’s. Another idea was to host a meet and greet for local politicians to come out and meet voters. Additional discussion will follow at future meetings. This would be a family friendly event.
After a discussion of the membership, Trevor Crafton made a motion, which was seconded by Jake Stuart, to increase the MFYP yearly dues to $45 per year. Current paid memberships are good through December 2010.
Other
A guest brought up the idea of hosting a “river sweep” in conjunction with an upcoming earth day event being held April 24th. The council will discuss and follow up with additional details.
A discussion was held regarding the focus of our group as it relates to “Thirsty Thursday”. The consensus of the group was to change the name and reassure members, potential members and the community we are not a drinking club. Future meetings will be held in family friendly venues.
Membership meetings will be held on the fourth Thursday of each month from 5:30 to 6:30pm. The location of the meeting has not yet been established. Additional discussion will be held at future meetings.
